Paranormal Scratches

by Terri J. Garofalo on June 17, 2009 at 6:00 am

Is it a paranormal event to be scratched?

All I can say is, it hasn’t happened to me - yet. I’ve had a psychic warn me not to hang out at a location because it was likely that I would be scratched. Sadly, I retreated since everyone else did. Sometimes I wish I had hung out and received my “just” reward. Which is what Wednesday’s cartoon is about. Arno, of course, would dive right in.

Some of the investigators I hunt with had their cars scratched at a certain cemetery. I guess if spirits can mark humans, why not cars? That might explain a lot of incidents of “keying” at local malls… energies of deceased mall rats running amok.

On an interesting note, a well known psychic said that ghosts cannot scratch you. It’s you’re own belief that makes that phenomenon appear. I’m inclined to subscribe to that theory. It hasn’t happened to me. I have felt pressure and sensation from spirits, but never has the skin been broken.

I will keep an open mind. If, on a future investigation, I wind up with some serious war wounds, you’ll be the first to know! Won’t that be an interesting blog topic, eh?!

Meanwhile, safety first – beware of ghosts with switchblades.

Major Screw Up…

by Terri J. Garofalo on June 16, 2009 at 4:49 pm

It has been pointed out to me that Boris Karloff did Frankenstein… and that Bella Lugosi did Dracula.

I have now immortalized in comic form the fact that I don’t do horror movies enuff to know the difference!

However, it does has a certain appeal as comic relief. So, laugh it up. It’s not like it’s the first time I’ve been snickered under the table.

Gone are my embarrassed days. I’m putting it out there… raw and stupid. Heck it’s just funny.

Have a good laugh, on me! That’s what I’m here for!

Possession

by Terri J. Garofalo on June 16, 2009 at 6:12 am

Tuesday’s comic is about possession. I must say the idea implanted while watching Ghost Adventures when Zac took on the spirit of a female entity… which I found fairly amusing. And so, a comic was born.

What better character to be possessed than Vlad. You know it’s bad when your demonologist goes down… especially to an impostor.

This week is a little rough for getting off any decent bloggin’, but I’ll put in a gallant effort and hopefully amuse most of you. I am writing some killer cartoons! So, stay tuned!

Enjoy!

Forgetting Equipment…

by Terri J. Garofalo on June 14, 2009 at 6:36 am

The bane of any ghost hunter’s existence is lack of proper equipment… Whether it is forgetting extra batteries, tapes, the digital recorder it is truly a headache.

My favorite item to forget is the flashlight. This is mostly because I virtually never use one preferring, for some unknown reason, to stumble around in the dark. I have made excursions out in a pitch black night to check on my horses somehow missing knocking into trees and finding the barn without any skunk interaction.

Guess I can assume I’m not afraid of the dark. But the real reason is I can never find a flashlight in my house in spite of the fact that my spouse is a flashlight aficionado. His love for all things flashlight has caused him quite an accumulation. Unfortunately his habit of leaving things in odd places makes all of them inaccessible without a lengthy search and destroy mission. So, I’d rather not waste time during an impeding crisis and head out without any light source.

This obviously extends to my paranormal investigating. I have to start the search and destroy long before I plan to head out to destination ghost. Sometimes, in the excitement that step slips by and I’m decidedly un-lit for the night. My fault entirely… I don’t blame my husband. I need to get my list in order and fill it accordingly.

So, thanks to my more conscientious investigators who always bring two or more, I usually find one to use. That doesn’t mean I actually use it… I’d rather trip over a few grave stones than miss an apparition.

Rule of thumb to the flashlightless: always feel your steps and don’t commit your weight until you know it’s safe. If you follow that code you won’t fall through the old barn floor, trip over ottomans or step on any bloodthirsty possums. And that’s a good thing!

Slightly off the Paranormal…

by Terri J. Garofalo on June 13, 2009 at 5:43 am
Posted In: Entities Blog

Every once c in a while, I have to write something that has virtually nothing to do with ghost hunting. Saturday’s cartoon is case and point.

Instead, I’m character building, I suppose… Merv is showing his “rocker” colors once again. Notice I don’t let him do the “devil” sign… not superstitious, but not inclined to allow my little Merv to get twisted. Hey, this is still a family comic to some extent. Though, I do draw that line kinda close…

What makes a cartoon captivating is the characters as much as the topic. A bunch of stick-figure investigators isn’t going to make Entities-R-Us particularly interesting. It takes personality. Why do you think the television show Ghost Hunters is so captivating? It’s the characters involved. People like them, want to know them. It’s the same with cartoons.

And so, we spend Saturday defining a little Mervliness.

You have to admit, he’s pretty comical… pun intended.
