House Hunt

by Terri J. Garofalo on February 22, 2009 at 3:33 pm

We had a very interesting investigation last night. It was a short one, small house… I have yet to get through my evidence (spent the day on cartoons). However, we had some personal experiences and some exciting psychic impressions.

The first order of business was a male entity in my attic bedroom. Psychic impressions labeled him “Jim”. Personal experience in the past collaborated a male presence as my spouse was told to “Get Out” by a male voice when we first moved in. Since I had the surnames of past owners, I recited these. We asked our ghostly friend to answer with a knock. We had faint knocking answers to our questions. He answered positively to the name of Cook. I checked this on my house deed today. John H. Cook bought the house in 1860. I was able to catch on of our “knocks” on my evp recorder (still got to go through evidence).

There were psychic impressions of somebody in the basement. Some of us saw some orbs, some saw shadows. One of us had their camera strap tugged. I didn’t catch any of that phenomena myself.

The truly exciting thing was up at the barn. Our resident psychic asked if there was a family plot on my hill, if anyone was buried there. I hadn’t run across that before. Apparently, there was an angry spirit who was upset that he died on the hill and was buried up there. He wanted his body shipped home (the property owners couldn’t afford to ship him). Also, he wanted his “green” box of stuff  buried with him. His story was his horse had spooked, he fell off, hit a rock and subsequently,  “bit it”. The psychic described the scene as a ravine where the horse spooked to and a large rock. THE AMAZING THING WAS THAT HE COULD NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE GULLEY ON TOP OF THE HILL… THERE IS NO INDICATION OF THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW THE PROPERTY. I know exactly where this place is… I found this information rather interesting. I have had creepy feelings on top of my hill and my horse was always quite spooky up there. I attribute most of that to the deer, etc.

I’ll post any evidence I find once I go through it. While I have nothing concrete that would prove a haunting. There is a lot of interesting info that came out of this. I’m just as facinated with the psychic stuff as I am with hard evidence… especially since this is such a personal place for me.

Another Hunt for a Haunt

by Terri J. Garofalo on February 21, 2009 at 8:06 am

Tonite I will be joining ORBS to scope out my old house to see if Mrs. Yanker is indeed still resident within her former physical haunt. I’ve had a lot of activity over the last 10 years that would indicate that she and/or a couple other former owners were present or at least in visitation.

Previously, I’ve witness flashes of light, grey misty wisps, glowing orbs in the bedroom, loud knocks, rummaging in the closet, the sounds of bookcases being torn down without it truly happening (thank God! What a mess that would have been). I prefer “fake” poltergeist activity to the real thing. My spousal unit was told to “Get Out” when we first moved in. I did see the image of a face at the foot of my bed, but I couldn’t be sure as I didn’t have my glasses on… what ever it was, it sure looked like one. I even got pacing footsteps off a video recording. They seemed to go across the floor, then up and down the stairs. To think I slept through all of that! Phew.

Tonight we’ll explore and call out. I’m in touch with her granddaughter, so I hope to be able to relay a message to her.

I’ll fill ya in on the details tomorrow. Also, I’ll be posting the Smalley’s Inn cartoons this week… they’re pretty darned funny.

Eat Cookies,

Woodsworth the Skeptic

by Terri J. Garofalo on February 16, 2009 at 1:48 pm

I suppose you may or may not have noticed I slipped in a “new” character… not so new to me. Woodsy has been around for about 3 comic strips. He grew out of a character that was dictated to me in a very vivid dream of Jim Morrison telling me how he would be if he were to still be alive as a recluse in the woods…

I’m sure I’ve lost a few of you with that last admission. Oh well. I don’t worry to much about how weird people think I am. I already am well aware…

Woodsworth evolved into the next strip called In Spirit. Here he played a frustrated poet who heads out to the woods to avoid society and its ills. He knocks heads with another like-minded recluse who just so happens to be dead. Woodsy is, of course, a skeptic. And, yes, in this strip, is dating our illustrious Erna, the psychic.

Drawing In Spirit caused me to create Entities-R-Us ghost hunter crew… You all can figure where this led. It turns out the paranormal “experts” were far funnier than Woodsy on his own, with the exception of the ghost, Fred, who I will resurrect eventually.

It occurred to me that a skeptic on board would add quite a bit of “comic relief” – as if there isn’t enuff of this already! This should be a fun venture. Arno is already considering the skeptic a bit of a freak of nature… sort of like a zoologist who discovers a new species.

This is going to be fun…

Enjoy as you Eat Cookies!

P.S. The reference to “on board” in the Ouija Nite strip for this week is not a pun I intended… It’s a pretty good one though! Too bad I didn’t think of it outside the subconscious level.

Convening with Cartoonists

by Terri J. Garofalo on February 15, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending a talk by New Yorker Cartoonists, and married couple, Liza Donnelly and Micheal Maslin at Oblong Book Store in Rhinebeck (within view of my living room window). They shared their experiences of being cartoonists for the New Yorker as well as their journey together as a couple. This is in lieu of their new book, Cartoon Marriage.

They were quite informative on their processes as artists. I enjoyed them very much – coming away with more ammo and fodder for my ‘toonin’ career.

I highly recommend their book. It’s a lovely account of their relationship and the humor involved in a dueling cartoonist partnership.

Alas, a nice shout-out to a couple of talented ‘toonists!

Enjoy and Eat Cookies!

EVP Recorder…

by Terri J. Garofalo on February 14, 2009 at 6:58 am

I finally sprung for a new digitial voice recorder. Finally, I’m moving away from the old “Model A” version of technology I so desperately cling to… I guess that means I’m getting over myself.

If that isn’t a good thing, I don’t know what is!!

Next weekend’s investigation, I’ll try for some EVPs. If I get anything good, I’ll post it. Otherwise, I’ll just have to post my parrot saying, “WHAAZZZUUUUUUPPPPP!”

Eat Cookies,
