Consumer Reports Top Rated Wine…

by Terri J. Garofalo on November 14, 2008 at 7:49 am
Posted In: Entities Blog

Okay, I had to buy it… Curiosity killed the cat. As I ran across Walnut Crest Carbernet Savignon from Valle Rapel in Chilie. There was a tag that indicated Consumer Reports rated it a top wine… Since when do the folks at Consumer Reports have a staff of experienced wine connoisseurs? I had to find out…

The good news is that it was only $6.99. It wasn’t awful. It was far from being awesome though. It has some nice Cab heat to it, nice berry. However, there was a nasty aftertaste that instigated the search for something to eat to cover it up. The label recommends serving it with roast or other heavy meats or strong cheese. I guess this is to cover up the aftertaste.

Another fine report from Consumer Reports… They also said my Volkswagon Golf sucked. It worked great for me and was a wonderful car!

All things considered, it wasn’t a bad wine – good enough for a casual glass with a nice strong cheese. And, you can’t beat the price.

Back to the comic business… and my impending move.

Eat Cookies,

Tj

A REALLY GOOD wine review

by Terri J. Garofalo on November 10, 2008 at 6:18 pm

Since I’ve been puttering around with this website, I’ve occasionally reviewed a few decent/marginal wines that were good enough for a night of casual visitors or Tivo. This next review is much nicer!

Picture yourself in the “Spanish Quarter” – the heart of Barcelona’s Plaza de la Portal de Pau (like the bottle says). You find yourself kicking back in an outdoor cafe, sun raining down, littering the cobblestones, locals about and you watch… The glint of deep plumb swirls the glass as your lips meet the spark of the Cabernet that blends with the spicy Tempranillo to create a warm and bustling marketplace of flavor, fitting for the scene you intake.

Enjoy The Spanish Quarter – 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon-Tempranillo. It’s VERY nice.

And Eat Cookies (you may be able to get away with cookies and this wine… though it’s questionable – choose your cookies wisely).

Tj – did I sound obnoxious enuff?

Petula…

by Terri J. Garofalo on November 10, 2008 at 7:17 am

Yes, I do own a Petula CD… and poor Merv is forced to suffer some of my eclectic tastes in music… While I’m not a “hair band” fan like he is, I’m a fan of just about anything else. My music tastes are open-minded – scary open-minded.

Don’t everyone freak out at once.

Quick note

The impending move is taking up my free time, so there have been limited postings…

If I can get zen about garage sales… then I must get zen about moving.

No matter what angle you examine it from, packing and sorting just sucks.

vote

by Terri J. Garofalo on November 4, 2008 at 7:17 pm

Did ya vote? I managed to get all the day’s worth of errands, moving stuff etc… just in time for darkness to settle. Then the horses needed tending… then the birds needed tending… then supper needed to be shoved into the oven… then FINALLY  I whisked off to vote. I could have bailed, but I hung in there and got ‘er done.

All in the name of our country. I hope we all made the right choice this time.

I take stock in the fact that I didn’t pick the last one… phew – who wants that on their head?!

Ah, the ghosts of elections past… As they say on Monty Python’s Flying Circus, “AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!”

Thank God. Eat Cookies!
