Up to the ears…

I’m really stretched out trying to gather up what I want to take with me for our big move… and discard everything else. This has kept me from my cartoons and this blog. So, if anyone out there is interested in why the every day thing turned into an every few days thing, that’s why.

One of these days I’ll explain this entire scenario. It’s quite an amazing experience. It’s a story to tell when there’s the time and the inclination. Not now, however. I have to finish living it first.

Alas, it’s a study in the workings of the Law of Attraction… both beautiful and scary as all hell.

Look for the synchronicities in life.

Where does it all come from?

I’ve often been asked where my ideas come from. It’s taken me years to figure that out, especially since ideas of mine tend to be a little left of center. Genetics could account for some of that…

Just the other day, I had a bit of a revelation about it. I’ve been known to have prophetic dreams and have received info from departed relatives – don’t lose me yet! These usually come in the form of symbols and concepts, not words. This explains why I often screw them up in translation. It occurred to me that my cartoon ideas come in the form of symbols and concepts. It’s left up to me how to translate them into amusing English.

So, what I am getting at is, these ideas come from beyond me. Therefore, I am not responsible for any of the good humor I channel… however, I could be shot for screwing up the message. I hole up in the sanctuary of “don’t shoot the messenger.”

Car repair and comics

I’ve discovered the best way to pass the time waiting for an wheel alignment on the car is to draw ‘toons. You’re a captive audience anyway, so you might as well get something done. Besides, it’s far more entertaining than those video loops about how to open the hood and why it’s a dumb idea to drive without oil.

Doesn’t anyone else’s dad teach them about that stuff before they leave the nest?

Back in action – Wine reviews

I took a few days off to complete another yard sale… Yes, I’m still zen about this sort of event. I’ve surprised myself in my ability to stay un-annoyed for two entire weekends of sales. I must say, I’ve capitalized on this venture. My newfound practice of non-attachment is going quite well.

I’ve celebrated with a nice Cabernet from Argentina – Navarro Torreas, Coleccion Privada, 2005. Nice tanins, good kick. (Always enjoy a good kick, as long as it’s not in the ass.)

The bro was in town this weekend and left a nice bright grapey wine from the Fingerlakes Region of NY: King Ferry Winery’s Mystere, basically the makeup is a mystery… lite fare for a casual gather.

Also, try Vin Chocolain – not sure about what it’s all about other than it’s sort of a chocolate wine. Nice and chocolately. Interesting on it’s own… probably weird with dinner. You can thank my yard sale pal, Sue, for that one.

Ahhhh, I suppose I should be writing comics?! Back to work. Catch ya tomorrow folks.

Magic 8 Ball

Figured you’d enjoy the story of what happened to my Magic 8 Ball… Back in the beginning of Spring, on one of the coldest weekends, I decided to have the first garage sale purge. In the throws of insanity, it was determined that I really didn’t NEED a Magic 8 Ball.

I lived to regret this decision, when I went rummaging for it later, because I wanted to write an Entities comic about it. After hours of tearing the house apart, I realized I had sold it. HOW INSANE IS THAT?!!! 8-Balls are an important fixture in the lives of many, including dopes like me who THINK they don’t need one…

Apparently, it is being enjoyed by my friend Sue’s daughter who uses it to pass her exams in college (exam passing comment is just for humor and not necessarily true…).

Thus passes my 8-Ball into the hands of another adept.

If anyone wants to get me a Christmas gift, and 8-Ball would be a good idea. I miss that stupid thing.
