Connecting with Source

by Terri J. Garofalo on September 27, 2008 at 7:43 am

The more I write and draw Entities-R-Us, the more I connect to the humor sector of the Source. Ideas come from somewhere – from God, the Tao, the Source or the Force. I’m as likely to use the Star Wars label as the Christian one. It’s all the same thing.

It’s not me, or my ego rather, that is generating this stuff. It flows into me, through me, and out the fingertips. I just get the benefit of snickering to it first.

Writing last night was effortless and funnier than ever. It gets better an better as my connection opens up. You can look forward to some exceptionally radical humor in the near future. I’m really enjoying the process.

May the Force be with you!

Ruining the table cloth…

by Terri J. Garofalo on September 26, 2008 at 6:00 am

The great ink spill happened last night upon the only decent table cloth I had left. Now it has a big black spot of waterproof black ink the size of a bagel on it. Oh well.

This resurrects the family story perpetuated by my mother, year after year after year after year… I spilled red wine on her white table cloth. NEVER, EVER, EVER do anything wrong in my family circle. You will NEVER, EVER, EVER live it down. When I cross over, it will be all over the other-side how I RUINED the white tablecloth. In fact, it will probably get mentioned on my headstone.

I bought Mom a really excellent tablecloth in Manahattan (actually made my husband do it since he was there). It is a high-end reminder how I wrecked an “Acme” table cloth from Grants Dept. store.

Mom’s pretty cool though, in spite of her elephant mind.

Spill my ink, think of Mom.

Snicker…

Eat Cookies – I did last night!

Beverage Painting…

by Terri J. Garofalo on September 24, 2008 at 7:44 pm

Between cartoon inkings, I decided to fool around with a concept I meditated up – painting with coffee and wine. This evolved through my nasty habit of dunking my ink pen or brush into my coffee (more difficult with the wine – taller glasses). If I paint with my beverage, I’m less apt to ingest noxious things accidentally.

Tonight I experimented. Both work like watercolors. They need a lot of layering. They also make interesting watermarks. I plan to do actual paintings like this. They are quite interesting.

Hey, it beats staining my shirts.

Humoring

by Terri J. Garofalo on September 24, 2008 at 6:29 am

I have been cartooning most of my life. Inspiration came in the form of Charles Shultz and Peanuts. I read all the old books in my home town library over and over. Of course I had to create my own… From all of that Wabbit Hutch was born. The characters originated from my own pet rabbits. They were pretty edgy for their time! The strip was pretty good. It gained me quite a notoriety about town. It also gained me an invite to join the school newspaper and literary magazine.

In truth, Wabbit Hutch came VERY close to syndication. It was my first taste. I spent many years recapitulating that strip into various incarnations until I finally put it to rest in the late ’90s. I do plan to resurrect it from the very roots and into it’s various incarnations on the web just for the heck of it. Especially since I believe that no good amount of work should waste away in a filing cabinet; it should be seen, even the embarrassing parts! HA!

We will let this unfold at a later date. I may even treat you to my hockey comic Puck one of these days…
