Drawing… spirits and storylines

by Terri J. Garofalo on March 31, 2012 at 9:11 am

This current series about the organ donor ghost has taken on a life of it’s own. I still don’t know how it will end, but I have a clearer idea. It must be interesting for you to watch a storyline unfold in real time (or close to). When you read Entities-R-Us, you are getting raw humor, raw drawing. I keep it simple because it allows a level of expression you just don’t get from formal, precise cartoons.

Evolving the character from comic to comic is exciting. I’m not always sure what this ghost or living being will evolve into. Jim-Beryl, for instance, is a country bumpkin kind of guy, yet he is exhibiting an innate intelligence and an acceptance of the paranormal one would not expect of a Nashville loving farm boy. His ghost friend is more complicated. He is, apparently, an intellectual or pseudo intellectual of some sort. We can tell he prefers classical music, expensive, safe cars and is quite judgmental of those who do not follow his ideals. He’s still a difficult ghost to pin down… We also now know that Merv does not respond well to internal body parts. I never knew that until I wrote about it. HA!

All of this makes Entities-R-Us just as intriguing to me as it is to you.

On an ill-conceived segue, I will also mention I am embarking on another ghost hunt tonight. This one concerns me as my teammates experienced feeling ill and having nightmares after the first foray into the place. Obviously, the spirits here are troubled and less than friendly. Thus, I shall proceed with caution. I will dig out my crystals for protection, say my prayers, yet try to remain open enough to get a bead on the place. I may do some psychic drawing if it warrants. We shall see.

I am also going to announce our new website soon. So hold onto your hats. It’s far from perfect… It’s my perfectionism that has caused me to hold back. So much content needs to be in place. I cannot believe how many investigations and how much evidence we have uncovered. All I can say is, “WHOA!”

APPARITION!

I SAW ONE! Yes, for the first time on a ghost hunt, I saw an apparition of a figure walking through a wall!

A couple members of my team along with myself did a preliminary investigation of a Masonic lodge this weekend. This was intended to gather evidence for an eventual lecture to be held there.

The energy was hopping! You could feel it all over the place. There seems to be several spirits. The main one is a man who walks around with leather boots and a top hat. He has been seen by several people, including one poor soul, who told us his story that night. He was using the bathroom when he saw in the window a reflection of the ghost standing right next to him. He said, “I pissed all over the ceiling and ran out of there!” He was a skeptic up until that point.

My encounter came when I looked down from the upper tier of the staircase to the Foyer below, hoping to get a photo as the angle was interesting. I saw, what looked like, a man walking into the alcove. I assumed it was the manager who opened the place up for us. As I went down the stairs, I noticed there was no door where the dark person went. I would have seen him come back out, but he did not. I was faced with a solid wall! The manager was in the office on the phone at the time. The rest of us were accounted for.

I can only conclude I saw the ghost of the place last night making his rounds. It was confirmed there was once a door in that location.

I can’t wait to hit the evidence on this one!

I’m going to rest on my paranormal laurels and have a cup of coffee…

Satisfied for now… until the next encounter!

Ghost Huntings…

by Terri J. Garofalo on March 24, 2012 at 8:53 am

For all those who THINK they want to begin ghost hunting… beware. It’s a heck of a lot of work! I’m going on investigation tonight with IndyPara to scout out a possible venue for us to do lectures and public ghost hunts. Not too long ago, we did an all night investigation, collecting tons of evidence, much of which I am not finished with.

It takes hours to do a proper paranormal investigation and a lot longer to sort out the evidence, most of which is time orientated. Audio runs just as long as the entire investigation, and sometimes longer if you have more than one recording device. For every hour of video you shoot, you need to review it for an hour at least. This does not include rewinding, cutting saving out separate files, etc. This adds up quickly.

Time becomes an issue when you have other responsibilities, such as work. You have to eat. Ghost hunting does not put food on the table. Family requires love and attention, investigations will steal you away most weekends. If you have a daily comic strip on top of that, it gets dicey for sure! So, my time has to be well managed or nothing gets done. If you are serious about this field, take into account the time demand. Make sure you block out family, and personal time. Otherwise, you will not stay sane, or married! Ha!

Tonight takes me away from my husband, who has to work today. So, he’ll be lonely when he arrives home. This is the downside of what I do. We have an understanding in my household, that personal dreams are important. That is why I do a comic strip and why I ghost hunt. It is also why he cooks wonderful food and explore opportunities to use those skills.

Remember, ghost hunting is it’s own reward. Attaching anything else to it is pointless… this includes fame, or money. For me, it is about the communication with those who have passed. I have an innate curiosity with the idea of people sticking around and why they would choose to do so. I also like to help others understand they are dealing with another person, not some mystery that will hurt them as movies portray.

And so I head off into the sunset to see if I can find some ghosts and have a chat. Then I will have MORE evidence to plow through! HA!

BTW: I promised Rachel, Lisa and Leah, my Twitter pals, I would post the birthday cake they made for me. Rachel took the time to have an entire virtual birthday party for me on the 20th. So, here’s the great cake! Notice the ghosts around the outside!

You gotta know where I’m going with this…

Enjoying the organ donor ghost series? You have to know where I’m going with this… Soon the Entities-R-Us crew has got to be involved. ARRGGGG! I’VE SPILLED THE BEANS! I’m usually a good secret keeper, but I can’t help myself sometimes. Still, you won’t know what the humor will be until the joke is laid! I don’t even know! These things write themselves. I plan nothing.

Not everyone can move through life planning nothing… So, this is not true of the rest of my life, just the comics. Perhaps I should listen to my intuition for the rest of it? What do ya say?!

Food for thought – just don’t feed it too much. Thoughts can get obese too.
