The first cartoon I did using Erna was In Spirit. Our hippie psychic owned a grease car that smelled like french fries. Today’s cartoon resurrects that aspect of Erna. Of course she would want to turn the Entities-R-Us Microbus into a “green machine”…
For all you mechanically oriented sorts out there… YES, I KNOW YOU NEED A DIESEL ENGINE TO MAKE A GREASE CAR! And I am aware Microbuses tend to be gasoline powered. However, this is a cartoon and it’s MY cartoon so I can do whatever the hell I want! LOL
This was also a great opportunity to have Merv insult Arno. I’m not sure why insulting people is so funny, I just know it works. Alas, being the brunt of jokes means one is adding laughter to the world, albeit at their expense. We are here but to serve!

The totem pole came out of my old comic strip, In Spirit. It rested on the land the main character Woodsworth owned and was part of the ongoing haunting. Notice it holds a beer can… The original one did also, along with a cigarette in a holder much like Hunter Thompson would sport. In fact, it was a tribute to that crazy journalist and his artist sidekick Ralph Steadman.
Steadman is one of my favorite illustrators of all time. His work is amazing and amazingly crazy! Oh, if I could draw with that kind of intensity… this comic strip would probably explode.
Check out his work: http://www.ralphsteadman.com/
And, when you get the chance, read The Curse of Lonoby Hunter S. Thompson and illustrated by Ralph Steadman. It’s insane! AND, try Gonzo Porter beer (if they still make it)… it’s a tribute to Thompson to raise money for a sculpture in the desert of his characteristic fist logo, a symbol of the Gonzo Journalism he invented and lived.
We’ll, I’m Gonzo for the day… back to my book. SOON YOU’LL HAVE A COPY IN YOUR HOT LITTLE HANDS!

Last year on September 18, 2008, Entities-R-Us, Ghost Hunter Comic made it’s debut.
As a treat I’m posting below a few of the In Spirit comics that the Entities crew originated from… You’ll see the transformation in drawing, character, etc. Arno changed his name from Arlo and got smarter. Merv jumped a couple of I.Q. notches as well… And Woodsworth became our skeptic. I guess I need to draw a few more skeptic toons… haven’t used the dude in a while.
