Masonic Lodge 21, New Milford CT. Venue for "Why Ghosts Love Me."

Nathan Schoonover’s “Why Ghosts Love Me” lecture was a spooky affair. As one of the speakers I entered the Masonic Hall where it was held under candlelight following the enormous Mason guy in full garb, banging his staff on the floor. The setting was quite ominous, which means little to me, as I’m not well practiced at being horrific. In spite of me, the scene was set…

Introductions were completed and Connecticut Soul Seekers took the stage with an informative talk on paranormal investigating. They are a great team with a lot of experience to share. They thrilled the crowd with photos of paranormal mist, video of moving orbs (not the dust and bug kind), and EVPs.

Donna Parish-Bischoff and I stood up for Indy Paranormal. I briefly spoke about Entities-R-Us. We shared our team experience, photos, humor, and finished off with some cool evps we’ve collected.

Here are a couple EVPs we played that really freaked people out.

These are both from the Patchett House on separate investigations.

This first one was from the July investigation at the Patchett House. Along with this EVP, I captured the photos of the dark mass, which approached and retreated from my camera. Luckily I was holding my digital recorder too, for this fellow wanted to communicate:

It seems to say quietly “Courage.” as if he was gearing up to perform a difficult task. Suddenly he speaks loudly, “I DON’T WANT HER TO LEAVE HERE.” or “I DON’T WANT TO LEAVE HERE.” It sounds like shouting. I heard nothing at the time.

If there was ever an EVP to bring the house down, the next one is it. Our last investigation in September resulted in this absolute Class A. How we didn’t hear it audibly, I have no idea. We must be deaf. This appears to be Emma Patchett, the last of the Patchett family to live in the building. She clearly considered us uninvited guests.

Since our EVP told us to, we “got out” and broke for intermission. Several people shared some interesting ghost stories with me. I talked comics and ghosts.

The crowd shuffled in to hear Frank Todaro of “Invisible World” radio show. He read some favorite listener ghost stories while the image of a crackling fire played on the video screen with an occasional wolf howl. His theatrical reads were quite entertaining. After each tale, Nathan would stand up and debunk it. That is, until he got to the trolls… Nathan is not a fan of trolls. He doesn’t mind the big ones; it’s the little ones that freak him out – sort of like small dogs for some people. Most of my friends have hang-ups for some reason. I should really analyze myself…

Nathan rounded the evening with a humorous talk about spirits, paranormal TV and his experience with both.

It was a thrilling evening. The crowd left entertained, informed, and some scared to death they might see a ghost later.

Next year you should go! I’ll probably be there… and be better prepared. As you can see by my late comic, I’m behind the Magic 8-Ball. Somehow, I still manage to score the daily cartoon for you all. I’m looking forward to finishing my degree so I can concentrate on Entities again. There are some really cool ideas brewing… Just you wait!

BUSTED WITH BUNNIES!

Remember the comic I did a while back about the Smalley’s Investigation when I drew my pal Nathan Schoonover wearing bunny slippers? Well, he emphatically denies EVER coming in contact with bunny slippers… Well, evidence has been uncovered recently on our last Patchett House investigation. I caught him fluffy-slippered in a wingback by the fireplace in the lecture room…

Nathan, you’re reputation is soooo toast… 😉 You gotta love PhotoShop! Next time I’ll scan in a troll. To check out the offending cartoon visit this end of Entities-R-Us: http://www.entities-r-us.com/2011/06/12/
