Barn Investigation

by Terri J. Garofalo on March 30, 2009 at 7:55 am
Posted In: Entities Blog

The investigation of my barn revealed something other than I had expected. The person who built my barn had died at his own hand – a very sad occasion for us, as we knew him during the summer he spent building such a wonderful barn for my horses. He was a great guy and sorely missed by many.

The day he died, I was in my barn tacking up my horse when a nail shot out of the wall causing a bunch of equipment to fall. (I’m no slouch when it comes to hammering nails and big ones like that just don’t fly out of a wall.) I could see the nail streak across the barn. My horse, who usually spooks at the unusual, didn’t even flinch. It was as if he expected it to happen and had seen who pulled it out! Much to my disgust, I never found that nail (it was a big one) and was worried about my horse discovering it later. I was able to correctly date the incident being my husband flew to Florida to visit his mom that day. When I heard of our friends passing and the date, I was able to place the incidents together. No proof, just personal experience. Yes, my friend would have shown up for one last look at the barn as it was the project he was most proud of.

Needless to say, I thought I might find him in the barn at least to say hello. Fortunately, it seems he hasn’t lingered on this plane… Instead, what we discovered was most unexpected. Our on-board psychic picked up on an angry spirit - short, stocky, stringy black-haired. This guy was pissed! He had fallen from a horse onto a big rock in the “ravine” as the psychic put it. The psychic had no knowledge of the gully that is atop my hill, nor the huge rocks that lie in it, and there are no physical signs of it even being there. You wouldn’t know unless you’ve hiked the hill. The nasty sort claimed he was missing his green box of stuff that he wanted back. He was also quite ripped that nobody bothered to ship his body home… wherever that was. He was not going to leave until someone at least buried the green box where he was laid to rest… which was some unmarked grave on the hillside. Good luck with that!

This nasty one had shown up in my hayloft, apparently. None of us saw him. However, I got 3 amazing orb picts that seem to be different from the usual dust you’d expect in a barn. The one seem to drift toward an investigator and wind up beside him. You can see these on the Evidence page. While I cannot prove that these are not dust, it does fall in the interesting category given the psychic impressions. Apparently, this bad egg was getting really ticked that we were there, so we were warned to leave by our psychic. Part of me is sorry I did. I’m not a fan of being scratched or shoved, but it would have been interesting just the same.

I have no physical proof of this entity. Yet, I like the story. And, sometimes a good ghost story is just that.

Take it for what it is. Use it to scare small children (who will later become ghost hunters out of sheer curiosity).

The Cookie (Cook) Case… My Home Investigation

by Terri J. Garofalo on March 28, 2009 at 8:57 am
Posted In: Entities Blog, Uncategorized

I may have changed up the names a tad, but when we investigated my former home we did a “call out” with the surname of the former owners (not nearly as many as the cartoon elaborates) hoping to get a positive knock in response.

We did get a response to the name Cook. It turns out a John Cook once owned and may have built the house. This spirit communicated with our psychic and even played with his camera strap which appeared to be pulled. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that on camera.

Cook apparently told our psychic that he wouldn’t go downstairs because there were “too many”… My question was too many what? Spirits? Or just the gaggle of investigators that were tromping around?

I reflect this in the cartoons.

Just wait ’til we get to the scary spirit that lives on my hill… one I was not aware of (I was aware of Cook), since he resides atop the mountain for the most part.

As it turned out, it was a more interesting investigation than I would have thought, given most of the activity I experienced while living there as infrequent. Mr. Cook was a quiet sort apparently. He let himself be known with the smell of pipe tobacco (one of our investigators smelled it). He may have been responsible for the orbs that would appear in my bedroom (attic) at night. I’m assuming it was him pacing that I picked up when I set up a video camera for the elusive orbs.

Enjoy this investigation, Eat Cookies, Hunt Ghosts,

Lugging Bureaus, Trimming Horse Toes, Country Courier

by Terri J. Garofalo on March 26, 2009 at 5:16 pm
Posted In: Entities Blog

I’ve been away from the spirits and involved in daily life… So, I’ve abandoned the blog for a day and a half.

This is my list of qualified excuses:

First off, I’m smack-dab in the midst of art direction for Country Courier Magazine (check ‘Cool Friends’ links – Country Courier). Changes, fixes, new ads, etc… This entire scenario involves a lot of mind. Needless to say, it’s a tad burnt… ears are smokin’.

Second off, I’ve moved more crap from my former home to the storage unit and new place. This included a bureau which I loaded into my truck myself and proceeded to unload and lug back to my apartment. Several people were freaked out and one felt sorry for me to the point where he helped me lug it up the stairs. Not many folks get that someone my size can lift 10 men and chuck them over the fence. However, I did not turn down the help, since I like to stay off the Advil.

Third off, my horse, Bj, needed a manicure. So, the equine nail technician, i.e. farrier, showed up to give him a trim. The upshot is he has great solid feet to be envied by most equines. (Anyone who wants to see a photo of the Beej can check out my “MySpace” page in Links.)

And so, I now sit at the computer jotting to you all a note of insignificance to make up for my lack of attention.

I bet you all wish your lives could be THIS exciting!

Home Case

Hoping you are enjoying the investigation series based on the one we recently did on my former home.

Yes, one of our team produced a fine stomach growl that was nearly taken for paranormal activity… I even caught it on my digital recorder. Now that’s an EVP!

We did hear knocks in response to questions. I still have more recording to go through… I will post any EVPs I come up with… and likely the stomach growl too for every one’s amusement.

Enjoy, Eat Cookies and Hunt Ghosts!

Guacamole Investigation

by Terri J. Garofalo on March 22, 2009 at 7:08 am

We had an interesting investigation at our O.R.B. leader’s pad. Their house is circa 1700s. The property has seen battles between Native Americans and the white man. There was a murder in the house and deaths to small pox etc. Several people are buried on the property.

Apparently there is also a couple portals… They’ve seen lines of apparitions filing across the grass in front of the window. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch any of that last night… bummer.

We had a lot of orbs and mists in the attic, which was not a dusty attic, but a finished one. One person got a face of a man. I’m interested in whatever voice phenomena we might get. A cabinet door appeared to slowly open slightly. I’m hoping I caught the progress on camera. We’ll see as I plow through my picts.

We finished off the evening with a seance. We have about 4 mediums in our midst; in fact, most of the group is psychic to some extent. So, it was quite interesting. This is a far cry from most scientifically orientated groups as it relies in the interpretation of the unknowable. It’s interesting to hear them banter back and forth agreeing on some impressions and not on others. Some of us felt cold spots. I could sense shifts in energy. There seemed to be a lot of spirit activity present.

I did manage to hear a voice of someone saying “white man” which was heard by two more of our investigators. Psychic impressions were that he had died too soon. White man had killed him. And, there was as sacred necklace belonging to the medicine man that was buried on the property near the well under a large tree that had been planted on it. The tree was identifiable and is about 200 years old, which would place it at the correct time.

Our seance attracted a spirit who was looking for his son and wife who had passed of small pox. He had realized they were crossed over and he didn’t know how to get there himself. We were able to open the white light for him and let him pass. That was quite an emotional experience. I could feel the relief and the love as he crossed. While I can’t give that scientific credence, my heart tells me it’s true.

I think it’s the kindest thing you can do to help a spirit cross back to home. No one should be stuck here for eternity.

Our summoning of the light attracted more than just the good guys… We had a dark entity show up, according to the psychics. It was not able to break our ranks though. We were able to hold it off. This is where seances and the like can get dicey. One of us could have gone home with that bit of nastiness. It was attracted to one who was feeling rather negative at the time. It feeds off a bad humor, so if a member of the group isn’t of a good frame of mind, it will look for that one. The person in question was up early for work that morning, had a rough week and was exceptionally tired.

I’m looking forward to checking my evidence on this one. I hope I catch that voice I heard naturally… THAT will be definitive proof for me!
