Do We Have A Ghost Cat?

August 4th, 2010 | by Tj
Posted In: Entities Blog

Since we moved into our home last November, there have been a few interesting incidents that have gone unexplained.

Occasionally I would hear tapping of knocking at night on the wall next to my bed. Then there was the shadow that appeared as if someone was standing in the kitchen. There was nobody in the kitchen… just the shadow of “nobody”.

Then there was the evening I was working in my office. There was a ton of stuff piled over the guest bed. I heard someone picking through the stuff as if they were examining it – RIGHT NEXT TO ME! If that doesn’t give ya the willies I don’t know what would. Yes, I checked for mice or other possible critters and found nothing. I just casually listened to it. It seemed that it was determined to discover something.

Next, my husband Rob experienced his car radio volume control going down mysteriously. He could even see the numbers go down on the digital display.

Rob and I thought we might have brought something into the home attached to a knickknack of the Taj Mahal from India, a gift from an employee of Rob’s. This employee was not a fan… Could it have been negative energy? Taking no chances we chucked the Taj. Activity subsided.

THEN, something stacked Robert’s coins in the cup holder of his car… Anyone familiar with my husband knows he doesn’t stack ANYTHING. He would need to acquire a poltergeist first… which he may have had.

My next thought was it might have been a spirit from his workplace. There are several haunting the long-term care facility he works for. This is still a possibility.

THEN! I swore the  bird flew into his room. When I checked, he was not in there, but was still on his perch. What I saw looked like a dark shadow high off the ground. It moved quick like the bird. Residual bird energy? Dopple-bird? Who knows…

Last week, lying in bed early in the morning, I distinctly heard someone calling a cat. “Come here kitty.” It was a female voice. When I mentioned it to Rob he told me he saw a dark shadow of a ghost cat in the house a day or so earlier.

And so I decided to do an EVP session. I don’t recommend doing this in your home without good reason. Like the Ouija, you can invite outside entities that may give you trouble later. So, I chanced it.

Here is what I picked up:

I asked who the spirit was, if they were the people who lived there before. A male voice answered. “Cousin”

I introduced myself. I was welcomed.

I asked him to communicate with me so that we can come to an agreement for sharing the house. He said, “I will.”

This one seems to say, “Hear it.”

I was asking who was in the car with Robert. Either this says the name “Chuck” or something else…

Here is an odd one. It either says, Bagans, Fagan or Bacon… Is the spirit commenting on Zak Bagans (I’m working on comic stuff during this session) or is he just hungry for a bacon sandwich? It repeats it a few times.

Now does this say “William” or something else?

I was asking “whoever” whether they realized I did cartoons… I may have been called a “Putz”… Not everybody is a fan.

I was outlining the ground rules for living with each other. I asked for respect and got an “Okay.” Sound good to me!

I did not get confirmation on the cat. Nor did I pick up a female voice. Perhaps the female voice I heard was residual energy. There does seem to be an intelligent sort haunting around. I will keep my ears and eyes peeled and see what turns up.

You know… I swore this place wasn’t haunted when I moved in. WHAT’S UP WITH THAT?! Sheesh, can’t escape it.

Here we go again…

Houghton Mansion & Harvest Moon

May 17th, 2010 | by Tj
Posted In: Entities Blog

I have returned from my weekend sojourn in North Adams, Massachusetts. Paranormal investigation group, Harvest Moon, held their first Paraconference at the Houghton Mansion.

The Houghton Mansion in the early 1900’s was owned by the first mayor of North Adams, Albert C. Houghton. It is a beautifully appointed structure with ornate detailing, fabulous fireplaces and many creepy rooms.

Tragedy struck the Houghton family in 1914 traveling to Vermont when chauffeur John Widders swerved to avoid a road crew and sent the family’s Pierce Arrow careening down an embankment. Family friend Sybil Hutton died at the scene. Mary Hutton, daughter of Albert passed on the way to the hospital. Widders and Houghton suffered minor injuries.

Widders, distraught, blamed himself for the deaths and shot himself with a pistol. Nine days later, Albert Houghton died “of despair” over the tragic events. It has been reported that Albert, John and Mary remain at the mansion.

The property was sold to the Gallup family in 1918. They quickly sold it to the Masons two years later. (Perhaps because it was haunted?) A Masonic temple was later added at the rear of the building. The Lafayette Graylock Masonic Lodge maintains it today.

I will detail the paranormal investigation at a later date… once I plough through the evidence.

Meanwhile, it was a regular hoot-nanny with the likes of Jeff Belanger and his crew from 30-Odd Minutes, http://www.30oddminutes.com/.

Jeff Belanger and Matt Moniz reading classic literature.

Also on board were ghost hunters Linda Zimmermann and Michael Worden.

Michael Worden and Linda Zimmerman exchange their cool books for mine!

Nothing like a little “Shameless Marketing”! At least I pay if forward! Hee hee…

There were a lot of other really cool people including the folks or Harvest Moon, Kimberly Huertas and company. They put together a well thought out event. The investigation was well organized in spite of the vast quantity of hominids on board.

I’d like to thank my partner in crime, Robin Benway who helped me lug stuff and was a captive audience on the scene tied to the Destination Truth Vehicle and restricted from travel for perks like FOOD. (Yes, once again the peanut paranormal diet was the intake of choice… at least for me.)

Robin Benway and some chick who draws cartoons with ghosts in them.

I would also like to give a shout-0ut to the Williamstown Motel. It’s a lovely place that is tended with love – nice and simple, welcoming with gracious hosts! If you are ever in the North Adams area and need a place to haunt, this is it. It’s especially beautiful in the morning on the benches under the trees or in the sun while one sips coffee and writes.

Williamstown Motel 295 Rt. 2, Williamstown, MA 01267

Find it here at http://www.williamstownmotel.com or call 413 458-5202

Got loads to tell… will unfold it all week.

Eat Cookies, Hunt Ghosts!

AND, check out 30-Odd Minutes – the Houghton will be featured and lucky me was sucked into sitting in the “psychomanteum” for the stint… So, look for me with bugged out eyes from mirror gazing in near darkness. “Gollum! Gollum!”
