Crossing Over

by Terri J. Garofalo on April 20, 2009 at 6:45 am

Today’s cartoon deal with someone who has found themselves out of body and has missed the “white light” bus. I imagine this happens occasionally and, therefore, we wind up with a ghost.

From the specter’s perspective, it can be a situation riddled with the anxiety that they should have done “A” when they opted to do “B” and now what?

Those stuck in this between zones are probably rescued by those who have crossed, who attempt to lure them over and those who are physical, who try to push them over. A little cooperation on both ends and those mistakes are soon rectified and nobody gets left behind.

Sounds like a good scenario to me. All I know is there’s humor in it.

People Haunting

by Terri J. Garofalo on April 19, 2009 at 7:27 am

I love to tip the tables on the supernatural when I cartoon. This Sunday’s ‘toon deals with a ghost who is upset that interlopers have moved into his pad.

We often think of ridding a place of a ghost, when in fact, that ghost was there first! So, who really should be run out of town?! If you consider that a spirit is just another one of us… perhaps a special needs sort in the sense that they have no physical body, then you must understand that it has thoughts, feelings and is conscious. That in back of your head brings a different flavor to ghost hunting and cleansing.

I’m up for a little paranormal empathy for our spirit friends who remain holed up between the physical and non.

I love writing humor… especially if it makes you think… and, hopefully, it inspires.

Orbs or Dust?

by Terri J. Garofalo on April 17, 2009 at 7:44 am

My investigation group had a food fest and ghost hunt at our leader’s home… which is loaded with spirits. I think they collect them, like I collect books, knicknacks, rocks… etc. We all took a ton of picts in the upstairs attic, all of us coming away with loads of “orbs”.

The question is, are they or aren’t they? I checked for forced air heat – they have radiators. There was dust on the table up there. There were a lot of investigators meandering around, which could kick up more dust. however, some of the orbs concentrated around a chair that psychics determined was owned by a former servant. This servant was not keen on any men sitting in her chair. Orbs seem to gather when any of our male members sat there.

The K-2 meters were silent. Some of us thought we saw movement of a cabinet door. I reviewed my shots and determined that the door was in the same position as it was before anyone mentioned that.

One of us got an orb that looked very much like a face of a man with a mustache. It was pretty definitive.

So, do we declare all of this dust? I will post some of these in the evidence page this weekend. You decide.

I did get one orb when we did a seance (I don’t recommend this unless you have folks on board who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR PROTECTION). This orb looks to have it’s own light source. I had actually heard a voice that was not one of the physcial folks present. This orb I would suspect is authentic.

All in all, it was an exciting night.

Orbs – Dust or Not? Let’s hear some comments.

Friday’s comic… after Ouija Nite, deals with life after death

by Terri J. Garofalo on April 15, 2009 at 7:13 am
Posted In: Entities Blog

I just finished a series of cartoons dealing with life after death from the perspective of someone who has ended their physical existence only to discover that existence hasn’t ended at all.

It’s a heavy topic, however, as with anything of that nature, there is some juicy dark humor there.

My mind must seem a little maniacal given that I can shift from “residual disco energy” to Latin incantations to death by wood chipper.

Fear not, I am virtually harmless.

Latin Incantations…

by Terri J. Garofalo on April 14, 2009 at 7:09 am

“Metus improbos compescit, non clementia,” translated means, “Fear, not kindness, restrains the wicked.”

This is probably more appropriate for warding off demons than “E pluribus unum” (One from many).

Vlad, of course, didn’t suffer through the four years of Latin that I did. Actually, I didn’t suffer really. I actually enjoyed that class. My teacher, Mr. Kirkpatrick, was a language genius with a wealth of knowledge about Roman history. He was also one of the biggest supporters of my cartooning back when I was drawing Wabbit Hutch.

I won’t forget the diagnostic test I took at the end of my senior year. (I had a reputation of being a bit of a whiz at translating.) I flunked that test so bad, Mr. K was shocked that I was even able to translate! To this day I can’t decline a noun to save my sorry butt. However, I can pick through a translation just because I “get it” for some reason. I must have been a Roman in a past life.

One of the more exciting Latin things I was shown was a comic book that was the rage in Europe at the time (1970s – later cretaceous period). It was written in Latin because most people over there still understood it, as it was a required part ofschool curriculum, much like English is today… The cartoonist opted for the wider audience Latin provided. It didn’t hurt that the subject was Romans and Gauls etc… The comic was called Asterisk.

It is in the spirit of this cartoon that I have included Vlad’s unintelligible Latin incantations. While I could have made him a Latin whiz-bang, it was far funnier to make him ignorant. Sorry, Vlad. We love you anyway.

Enjoy this little bit-o “Roman” history.
