The Bird Did It…

Alex - the culprit -photo by Terri J. Garofalo

You’ll notice I actually used a computer font instead of my usual hand lettering. There’s a sound reason for this. I use a little light table with rules on it so I can letter with the proper line spacing. Alex, one of my parrots, decided to bit the electric cord to it. It now does not work. Fortunately it was not plugged in when he committed the crime or we would have served “fried chicken” for dinner.

Alas, we tried to splice it, but it appears I blew the ballast or hopefully, only the bulb. So, it’s out of order for now. So, you will have to put up with clean, legible comic lettering. Sorry about that.

This is prompting me to consider using a Wacom tablet. I had one years ago. Today’s versions are far more sophisticated. While I won’t have hard copy comics, I will be able to cut my draw and production time in half. Therefore, I will be able to keep up with a daily cartoon, and not make concessions to the new job.

Alas, the universe works in weird ways… even through mischievous parrots.

Mouse-anormal

by Terri J. Garofalo on May 7, 2012 at 9:09 am

Yes, we did have a “mouse-anormal” experience at Garrison House in the basement. While nobody ran, there was a certain amount of debunking going on to determine the source of the sound. Ultimately, I was right – it was a mouse (actually the larger variety). Growing up in an old house listening to indigent mice chewing away at night has hard-wired me to knowing a rodent when I hear one. Sure enough one walked into my flashlight beam on his way to his next chew stop.

Ghost Story Gig

Last night’s film session with the bio channel at Miss Fanny’s Victorian Party House was fun. I learned a lot about how action shots are put together from Larry, who filmed us. I also discovered I am quite adept to playing myself. HA! I never considered myself an actor by any means, a goofball yes, but definitely not an actor. However, I was able to reenact events I experienced in one take for the most part. This is probably due to my ability to remember things acutely.

We brought our equipment. Right away we picked up activity on the K2 meter. I could feel the presence of spirit energy all around. It seemed to follow us. Last time it was very heavy and threatening. It started off that way, but it seemed to recognize us and let up a bit. I did hear a voice in the master bedroom. This particular room is guarded by a very cranky ghosted who calls himself Isaiah. His energy relaxed when we reenacted the scenes that too place the last time we were at Miss Fanny’s. Perhaps he felt he was heard and realizing we knew he was there.

I felt bad, because I promised my hubby I would be home in the early evening. We didn’t wrap until after 10pm. Both of us had to get up early, so he was in bed. I now am on little sleep. Oh well… I’ll catch up later I suppose.

I’ve got a heavy work week ahead, so I’m going to hit it hard.

Ghost Story

by Terri J. Garofalo on May 6, 2012 at 9:53 am
Posted In: Events

I have an interesting day ahead. Today we film the “b-roll” for the Biography Channel’s program “Ghost Story.” My paranormal team is part of an episode featuring Miss Fanny’s Victorian Party House in Wappingers Falls, New York. It is based on experiences our team had there.

Yes, I am bringing my gear, particularly my voice recorder. I’m expecting more dialog from “Isaiah,” the ghost we picked up on the ghost box and EVP. I will likely cartoon this entire event, so stay tuned!

This week wraps up the Garrison House comics. Merv’s stuttering demon friend will linger on… since this is a great character discovery.

Ghosts, Jobs, Comics…

by Terri J. Garofalo on May 1, 2012 at 6:37 am

Today starts my new job. Wish me luck! I’m not freaking out, but am experiencing a certain amount of nervous anticipation. I’m looking forward to bringing this company’s design up several notches. It will be rewarding for me… and hopefully, them!

This weekend is crazy. I have two ghost gigs… One involves a major TV show. We’ll see where that goes. I’m not one to push this stuff, but since it is showing up, I won’t shy from it. Saturday is a major investigation for us. We will disclose the place when we are done. We’ve learned not to announce these things to avoid unwanted attention form onlookers. You never know WHAT is going to show up once you post an event on Facebook…

This morning I am working on some comics. I have to keep you all entertained! Still working on the Garrison series. I have uploaded photos and the personal stories about the event on the IndyPara website. The audio will be up on Wednesday (barring any unforeseen usurpings). Check it out http://www.indypara.com
