Human Interest vs. Marketing

by Terri on April 14, 2014 at 9:07 am

My purpose is to make people laugh and think.

While this cartoon was an inspired act of creation, it still was specifically targeted to an audience. Admittedly, I am a marketing maven who enjoys the process of discovering new ways to promote the message. It’s a good thing I’m not a Jehovah’s Witness, or you all would grow to dislike me immensely. I watch the attention of the audience carefully. What I find sort of runs against what is expected.

It turns out, it’s not the paranormal topic that is entertaining, but the human interest. Okay, so I inherently know this, but it still is interesting to examine it. People are entertained with emotion and interaction, not the topic. The topic can be anything… from vampires to duck hunting. It comes down to the same thing, people. We love watching each other drop into conflict, rise out of it to model solutions to us. We enjoy laughing at foibles, which wouldn’t be funny without our attachment or knowing it could be ourselves.

This is the knowledge great cartoonists embody. They know how to elicit a response. It is our link to the fans who read our work. It is WHY they read our work. Developing this can take years, or it can be inherent in the nature of the cartoonist beast. For me it was born out of watching the world rather than participating. I was a reclusive, introverted kid. This allowed me to sit back and take it all in. It wasn’t until high school the knowledge found an outlet with the comic strip. All those years of being the wallflower gave me the ability to understand humanity. While I’m not a very good participant in all the hominid nonsense, I do enjoy watching it.

You people are pretty amusing.

I will continue to use my marketing prowess, but will always support it with an understanding of human interest. It just works best that way.

Enjoy!

Entities-R-Us Ghost Hunter Comic Gets New Look

by Terri on April 1, 2014 at 1:38 pm

I finally sucked up and did it. It’s been a while since I’ve updated the look to this site. Today I put the pedal down and did it. There are a few homepage tweaks. I plan to do more in the way of offering comics for sale, etc. For now, the look is updated. Yes, I will be drawing a new comic. Don’t fret.

It was fun to make the animated banner. I’m all over the animation thing these days. I recently updated my design portfolio with all kinds of exciting stuff.

I am considering an advertising slot for those interested. We’ll see where that goes. First I’ll need to get back on Twitter good and hard. All you marketeers know the name of the game is TRAFFIC! I haven’t been working at it as hard as I would like. But, that will shift. Paradigm time!

Spiritual Energy

A student of this realm, I’ve been experimenting with energetic tools. I’ve discovered Aleya Dao, an energy healer when I was Googling toning. She works with sound from the angelic realm and the whales and dolphins. If you listen to her work, it’s moving. Her meditations use both protocol (another word for prayer) and tones to help move energy. Her meditations have helped me through a major enlightenment shift. This might seem “woo-woo” to some of you, but I challenge you to open your mind and just absorb it.

Visit her website at http://www.aleyadao.com

She has a bunch of free meditations you can access to see if it works for you.

Enjoy! Tj

There are several excellent examples on YouTube. I’m including two here.

Crossed Comics

Well, I blew it. I completed the wrong comic first and posted it. Today’s comic “Where’s Carl – 7” was supposed to run before “Where’s Carl – 8″… Fortunately, I do gag comics so each one is funny independent of the others. Phew. However, it would have made more sense to run them in order.

I could have skipped this one, but it was too funny to leave out. So, enjoy!

It’s time to start a new series. I’ll be dredging the mind for another fun idea. Stay tuned!

Does Hell Exist?

by Terri on February 8, 2014 at 9:57 am

Good question! For some people it does. It’s about belief. Our minds fabricate a lot of interesting stuff… We shape our worldly experience through thought and belief systems. When we make the transition, we essentially see what we expect. That seems to be the consensus of many of those who have near death experiences. Some report seeing a tunnel of light to heaven, others a horror.

Hell was invented by religion to scare the masses into conforming to church mandates. People took it as gospel and plugged it into their belief systems. So, essentially, it was invented. But, since we create our own realities through thought, it becomes real for us. Belief can be so powerful it can cause manifestation of those deepest fears into the physical realm. When someone says they have “seen the devil,” it’s quite real for them. The rest of us may not see it.

As we evolve spiritually, much of this “hell” stuff is falling away. We are becoming more conscious about how we live our lives. Most of us do not need a church or government to make us behave. We do so naturally, as it doesn’t make sense to harm others or the environment. The shift is happening. And so we begin to question the existence of the horrors we’ve been brought up to fear. We are becoming masters of our own creation. It has become evident our thoughts shape our now and our future. In the present moment we must choose guide our thoughts and emotions to effect our world experience. Yes, we are responsible. Take the time to move toward joy. It will make a major difference in your life experience.

For me, hell does not exist. I’ve experienced it on Earth by virtue of not knowing how to control my thoughts. But, I’m cleaning that up and things are looking rosier all the time. That doesn’t mean I won’t hit those bumps life puts up, but I’ll be able to leap them cleaner without the usual face plant.

Enjoy!
