Another big ghost hunt!

Saturday IndyPara heads to Patterson, New York for a haunted residence! This is a really interesting historical site, so I’m looking forward to seeing what we drum up. I won’t disclose the particulars until we do the deed. We are being filmed for Paranormal Valley again.

You may have noticed the comics have been a tad late to arrive on the scene. It’s been a bugbear to get a bunch of them done at once. Also, this week I gave myself two days off… or nearly so. One of those days is today. As you can see, I’m still working. HA! I’m hoping to get back on track soon. These paranormal investigations eat quite a bit of time, especially the hours of evidence that needs to be sifted. I won’t mention the masters degree I’m working on… Still, I am able to keep you in comics!

I’m hoping in the coming week to try some pencil-only comics. These will be a study in the medium I enjoy the best. You’ll have to comment and tell me what you think. I know some of you enjoy the photo comics. I just enjoy  being able to screw around with ideas, since this is MY comic strip! HA!

Great Pumpkin was late…

Thanks to a late night school project, today’s Halloween cartoon didn’t get finished until this morning. The cool thing is, I picked up some new pen nibs and now have a better arsenal of tools to draw better comics. After all these years I finally found a lettering pen I like! I also discovered a really nice drawing pen with a deep bowl to hold lots of ink (I hate dipping and re-dipping)… This one puts me at risk for some major happy accident blobs. I’ll have to be careful.

It took me a while to figure out how to dress Thor for Halloween. I had a lot of cool suggestion via Twitter. Someone threw out the idea of dressing him like the “living.” I’m still not sure how to do that properly. But, it’s on the back burner!

For once I have a ghost hunt on Halloween! Were investigating a local barn. Stories are of lights going on and off by themselves. Also, just this week a worker saw an apparition of a woman in a green dress lying down in the hayloft! This should be interesting. I’m keeping the location quiet until they decide it’s okay to declare their barn haunted.

And… if I get my act together, I’m posting a fun video on YouTube today. We’ll see if I get to it…

Meanwhile,

TRICK OR TREAT!

The Real Cause for a Nor Easter in October…

by Terri J. Garofalo on October 30, 2011 at 7:26 am
Posted In: Entities Blog

I really hit upon something today… We Eastern U.S. sorts are in the midst of winter weather in October… BEFORE HALLOWEEN! All my experiences of growing up in North in New Hampshire never prepared me for a New York storm THIS time of year.

However, I have determined the cause of such global weirdness… It is the fault of the retail establishment. Their insistence on encouraging Christmas shopping well BEFORE Halloween has led to attracting snow earlier in the year. We are totally out of sync. If we can’t ascend the normal progression of holidays properly, then we deserve the weather patterns mimicking our own.

If you want further proof of this, take a look at my Christmas Cactus. It’s in bloom NOW! At the rate we’re going, we’ll experience Springtime in January.

My Christmas Cactus is really a Halloween Cactus this year.

Today’s Guest Draw is Poughkeepsie Paranormal Investigators, Pou Para. These guys are featured in the Patchett Series that was filmed for Neighborhood Journal on Cable Vision, Dutchess County. They joined my team IndyPara for an exciting investigation. We gleaned a lot of evidence from this one. The EVPs are still accessible. They are a couple blog posts back.

The star of this draw is Ed. He was a real hoot. He gets very excited about paranormal activity. We had a great time with these guys. They make a nice addition to our own team as they bring different aspects to the table. We will likely work with them in the future as well. We just finished up the Garrison House with them. That one was filmed for Paranormal Valley. The episode will air in the Spring (which is probably in January if the weather continues… HA! Just kidding).

Thanks Charlie, Jimmy and Ed for a truly professional and fun ghost hunt at the Patchett!

Garrison House Investigation

Garrison House, Ft. Montgomery New York

Saturday was our joint investigation with team, IndyPara and Poughkeepsie Paranormal Investigators (Pou Para). Once again we were filmed for Big Guy Media for an episode of Paranormal Valley. This one will be aired in the spring. Garrison House is a quaint bed and breakfast run by the most lovely and accommodating of people. Often, as ghost hunters, we are shuffled along, ignored, or treated as kooks… basically, disrespected. Holly and Melissa of Garrison understands we are exploring something greater. This is not a thrill seeking venture, but a process of discovery and identification of the presence of spirits, i.e. people, who are still attached to the physical realm for reasons of their own. Garrison House was pleased to be a part of the Paranormal Valley series. There is a tremendous historical significance to the place. Built in the mid-1700’s, Garrison occupants played strategic parts in the revolutionary war. Issac Garrison fought for the colonies and was captured by the British. Another war hero, Molly Corbin stayed here. She was the first woman to be decorated as a Captain, because she stepped in to load the cannons in battle after her husband was killed. She was gravely injured and spent the rest of her days needing care. She stayed at the Garrison during this recuperation. She ultimately lost her battle and was laid to rest with honor.

The ghost stories range from moving rocking chairs, covers being taken off beds, to full bodied apparitions. Some of us experienced psychic reactions to a specific room. We heard noises, voices. The EMF meters and K2 were quite active at different times of the night. I’ve only started to go through my evidence and I’ve got a few interesting EVPs. Ironically, I left my recorder on the dining table during the tour; something I NEVER do. I’m glad I did, for that is where I seemed to have picked up the most so far. I still have the meat of the footage to go through, so stay tuned!
