October, a Ghostly Month

by Terri J. Garofalo on October 13, 2011 at 7:38 am
Posted In: Entities Blog

This month is absolutely crazy with ghostly events and investigations. It seems everyone has a ghost this time of year… some of these ghosts come from stores, move into one’s house and attempt scare small children.

Since teaming up with Pou Para (Poughkeepsie Paranormal) at the Patchett House, my team IndyPara has plenty to do. We have made plans to do another joint investigation at Garrison House near West Point. This will be filmed by Big Guy Media for another installment of Paranormal Valley. For those of you who didn’t catch it, we did Smalley’s Inn in Carmel. Check out that show here: http://yourbgm.tv/yourtv/living/paranormal-valley

Sunday I will be appearing on Live Paranormal’s “Unexplained Times” radio show at 10pm EST. Find it at liveparanormal.com. This should be a fun interview. All the ghostly experiences I’ve had lately will be told. Also, we’ll talk about the comic strip and where it’s going.

More will be surfacing too. I’m still trying to decide if I’m going to tell ghost stories at Periwinkles at Rhinebeck the weekend before Halloween. I leaning towards this. It would be really cool to embellish some of my own tales… or make up new ones! I used to treat the kids I babysat, during my High School years, to some scary stories. It was a big hit! Occasionally, I would inadvertently spawn a nightmare.

Meanwhile, my team has at least 3 major investigations. I have one this weekend with Pou Para. We’re even ghost hunting on Halloween at a local barn (who will remain anonymous until they are comfortable with the ghost idea).

I still plan to post the Patchett EVPs. We had some significant ones. There were a couple Class As… one is really loud! Patchett produces some very potent EVPs. There must be an energy source somewhere… minerals in the ground or water… who knows.

Watch this week’s comics. Merv is up to his usual hi-jinx. This time his antics put the team in crisis. This series gives me another great idea… which I won’t expound on now as I won’t get to it for a long time. So, I’ll just tantalize you.

Haunting Evening…

Masonic Lodge 21, New Milford CT. Venue for "Why Ghosts Love Me."

Nathan Schoonover’s “Why Ghosts Love Me” lecture was a spooky affair. As one of the speakers I entered the Masonic Hall where it was held under candlelight following the enormous Mason guy in full garb, banging his staff on the floor. The setting was quite ominous, which means little to me, as I’m not well practiced at being horrific. In spite of me, the scene was set…

Chapel of Masonic Hall 21. Those are real Tiffany windows!

Introductions were completed and Connecticut Soul Seekers took the stage with an informative talk on paranormal investigating. They are a great team with a lot of experience to share. They thrilled the crowd with photos of paranormal mist, video of moving orbs (not the dust and bug kind), and EVPs.

Donna Parish-Bischoff and I stood up for Indy Paranormal. I briefly spoke about Entities-R-Us. We shared our team experience, photos, humor, and finished off with some cool evps we’ve collected.

Here are a couple EVPs we played that really freaked people out.

These are both from the Patchett House on separate investigations.

This first one was from the July investigation at the Patchett House. Along with this EVP, I captured the photos of the dark mass, which approached and retreated from my camera. Luckily I was holding my digital recorder too, for this fellow wanted to communicate:

It seems to say quietly “Courage.” as if he was gearing up to perform a difficult task. Suddenly he speaks loudly, “I DON’T WANT HER TO LEAVE HERE.” or “I DON’T WANT TO LEAVE HERE.” It sounds like shouting. I heard nothing at the time.

If there was ever an EVP to bring the house down, the next one is it. Our last investigation in September resulted in this absolute Class A. How we didn’t hear it audibly, I have no idea. We must be deaf. This appears to be Emma Patchett, the last of the Patchett family to live in the building. She clearly considered us uninvited guests.

Since our EVP told us to, we “got out” and broke for intermission. Several people shared some interesting ghost stories with me. I talked comics and ghosts.

The crowd shuffled in to hear Frank Todaro of “Invisible World” radio show. He read some favorite listener ghost stories while the image of a crackling fire played on the video screen with an occasional wolf howl. His theatrical reads were quite entertaining. After each tale, Nathan would stand up and debunk it. That is, until he got to the trolls… Nathan is not a fan of trolls. He doesn’t mind the big ones; it’s the little ones that freak him out – sort of like small dogs for some people. Most of my friends have hang-ups for some reason. I should really analyze myself…

Nathan rounded the evening with a humorous talk about spirits, paranormal TV and his experience with both.

It was a thrilling evening. The crowd left entertained, informed, and some scared to death they might see a ghost later.

Next year you should go! I’ll probably be there… and be better prepared. As you can see by my late comic, I’m behind the Magic 8-Ball. Somehow, I still manage to score the daily cartoon for you all. I’m looking forward to finishing my degree so I can concentrate on Entities again. There are some really cool ideas brewing… Just you wait!

BUSTED WITH BUNNIES!

Remember the comic I did a while back about the Smalley’s Investigation when I drew my pal Nathan Schoonover wearing bunny slippers? Well, he emphatically denies EVER coming in contact with bunny slippers… Well, evidence has been uncovered recently on our last Patchett House investigation. I caught him fluffy-slippered in a wingback by the fireplace in the lecture room…

Nathan, you’re reputation is soooo toast… 😉 You gotta love PhotoShop! Next time I’ll scan in a troll. To check out the offending cartoon visit this end of Entities-R-Us: http://www.entities-r-us.com/2011/06/12/

Para-Geek

by Terri J. Garofalo on October 3, 2011 at 7:59 pm
Posted In: Entities Blog

It’s official… I examined my Facebook friends, about 90 percent of them are involved with the paranormal. Therefore, it is official; I am a para-geek. Zak Bagans friended me today, so I know I’ve gone over the edge for sure.

Three years ago, when I first launched Entities-R-Us, I had no idea it would lead so major ghost hunting on my part. While experiencing paranormal was a regular thing, it was not on my radar screen to seek it out. Somehow, it found me, like all the other ghosts. Now it has become part of the fabric of my life.

Seeking spirits is a part of my personal awakening. It has subsequently become a spiritual quest to share this with everyone. As we approach 2012, as a culture we are becoming aware that we are more than physical body. We are spiritual beings, energy… life. The fact that we live on is apparent in the evidence we collect in our paranormal adventures. Those ghosts who choose to remain behind are educating us about the afterlife. In turn, I hope we release them from this world so they are no longer tied to the earth. Essentially, we release each other.

Entities-R-Us is Back

by Terri J. Garofalo on September 29, 2011 at 9:11 pm
Posted In: Entities Blog

We have a new batch of Entities cartoons starting this Thursday. Demon Barney makes his debut. I’m not finished with him yet, so expect him or it to show up in future comics.

Now here’s a question… Should demons be referred to as he, she or it? I tend towards “it” as I don’t want to malign any side of the sexual equation. I don’t imagine demons have much of a gender aspect. Though, I imagine they lean towards a masculine direction. I can’t imagine one heading to the beauty parlor to get it’s squiggles straightened, nor have it’s claws done at the manicurist. Then there is Barney… Now you are in for a humorous ride with this nut.

I must mention I am doing a talk with my pal Donna from Indy Para on October 8th in New Milford, CT.

Why Ghosts Love Me – hosted by Nathan Drake Schoonover from Indy Para (my group), Paranormal Challenge and Extreme Paranormal.

Saturday, October 8 · 7:00pm – 10:00pm

St. Peter’s Lodge #21 New Milford, CT
