OVER 600 COMICS plus…

Yes, I looked into just how many cartoons I’ve done so far… While my mind was still at 1, I discovered I’ve put out close to 680! WooHOO!

Since I missed my 100th and my 500th celebration, today we celebrate 680ish! Get out your party hats, grab a beer and dance around the living room.

GUEST DRAW GHI’S Robb Demarest and Andy Andrews…

…are on deck for Sunday! Brandy Green asked me when I was going to draw Robb and if I would ever draw Andy. So, I just did.

This one is pretty funny… in an intellectual way as only a comic philosopher like myself could write it.

Better to be comically philosophical than pseudo-ly intellectual that’s what I always say. Though it can be fun to feign pseudo intellectuality and bust up a few large words for good measure.

Eat Cookies, Hunt Ghosts, Bust Up Big Words! – Keep it simple…

Mid-Causal Michael

Ouija Nite might just throw you a curve today… While cartoonists should never feel obligated to explain a comic, I will anyway.

The Mid-Causal Entity idea came from the book (probably out of print at this point) Messages From Michael  by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. It is a true story of a group of people who would gather at a Ouija board and communicate with an entity they referred to as Michael.

Michael describes itself (no genders please at this point in its existence…) as a group of fragments (souls like us) who have reconvened to become a single mid-causal entity. Mid-causal refers to the plane of existence it resides in. (Interestingly, this seems to confirm what Quantum physics says about other planes of existence). Michael’s purpose was to aid in growth for these individuals… and at this point, those who read the book.

It’s a bit like the channelling of Seth in Seth Speaks  or Esther Hicks channeling Abraham. Whether you believe there are teachers out in the universe like these guys (there I go with the gender thing…) or not, the wisdom in these works is apparent.

If you can find this jewel, it’s worth a read. Mine is in the form of a tattered indiscreet paperback that was given to me by a good friend who has since passed. (Waiting to here from her!)

The concept makes for an interesting Ouija Nite… just wait ’til Erna gets involved. Carl and Thor get pretty wigged out… the thought has been put in their paranormal heads that there might be something ELSE beyond the astral plane.

Hope I blew your mind a bit… it’s better than coffee to wake up to!

EVPs on Top of EVPs…

In our chat on North Central Paranormal’s “Topic Tuesday” via their Facebook wall, we discussed electronic voice phenomena. Quite a few interesting experiences went up on the board.

One person mentioned picking up a voice in a graveyard saying, “Would you like fries with that?” This is a hysterical thing to hear from a disembodied voice… However, it turns out the recorder synced into a fast food restaurant close by. Alas, not disembodied. Yet, a good yarn!

I brought up an interesting phenomenon that happens when I review audio evidence. My methods are a tad unorthodox. I do not exclusively use headphones, I find I can sift the sound better when it plays in open air. Although I like to pop on them on for confirmation, most of my review is straight listening. I discovered this method after my headphone cord got chomped by one of my parrots and I was forced to resort to just cranking my speakers up.

Interestingly, I began to  pick up an occasional rogue EVP… I would tag it. Upon returning to the spot on the recording, there was nothing. Around that time we had some activity around our home. I suspected my husband brought something/someone home from his job. He works at a long-term care facility that is haunted. I have done impromptu investigations there. It would make sense one might be curious to look me up for some more conversation.

With the blaring, background white-noise of the recording, it is likely the spirit can project better. I’ve noticed I seem catch more EVPs in a room with a loud refrigeration unit going, than in a quiet room. The white noise seems to carry the frequencies better. While this isn’t true of all places, it certainly was the norm for the nursing home. This might be the electromagnetic energy influencing the energies of the spirits too. Welcome to hypothetical heaven!

One of the members of my team lived in a haunted location and would get comments from her peanut gallery while she reviewed evidence.

It is my feeling is once we pick up a digital recorder with the intention to communicate, we become a beacon to the dead who want to talk. Like psychics whose light shines bright, somehow our recorders must glow in the dark! So, who knows how many find their way into my office?

I’m curious if anyone of you have had a similar experience?

Lanaia’s Lair

Here you will find some interesting stuff to say the least. I met Lanaia on a blogtalk back in February. She is an interesting person. I’d hedge my bets she’s spent a past life or two on Atlantis. Must read for Believers and Skeptics alike

I just finished a really cool book… Spook – Science Tackles the Afterlife by Mary Roach. It should find its way onto everyone’s nightstand reading pile.

Mary Roach takes a hard look at the paranormal from all aspects, exploring the science (or non-science) of ghost hunting, psychic, quantum, ectoplasmic and even near death experience. Her sense of humor pointedly illuminates the shortfalls of what we come to believe as “proof” of ghosts or hauntings.

In no way does she completely tear down the field of paranormal research, however she forces us to really take a hard look at what we consider evidence. Our methods perhaps need more meat behind them to be considered accurate ways to detecting spirit activity, etc.

Personally, the field needs refinement. We head out on a wing and a prayer that electromagnetic energy is an indication of spirit activity, when we really don’t know that for sure. Are the electronic voice phenomena we pick up from disembodied spirits or some radio show in Outer Mongolia?

It doesn’t hurt to hard line a bit. I tend to be open-minded about most things… perhaps too accepting at times. However, one doesn’t want to close the doors to the unknown to the point where we do not recognize it. There is a balance that needs to be established.

Can we prove the spiritual through the physical? So far, I have my doubts. The spiritual is whatever the physical is not from what we have gathered. To bring physical science into a position of proof, may prove impossible. Yet, we may be on the cusp of a new level of understanding that goes beyond science.

Either way, this is an amazing point to be at this time. We are on the verge of discovery. It’s part of the journey, so let’s enjoy it!
